Your Family "Autistic" Stories
Tell me your stories of people in your family whose behaviors were labeled as odd, weird, strange, or eccentric who you believe may have been autistic. Also share with me the stories about "mental illness" in your family that you think might have been the case of a misdiagnosed Autistic.

Hiya Spydyee! I would say my big brother is Aspie. There are random shadow traits sprinkled liberally around our family tree, but he has always stood out (until my Ezra was born)
Here is his MySpace blurb
I am an avowed weirdo going back to my second or third week of kindergarten. I decided then that being normal was too dull. I have tried many things, and have become good at some of them. I thought I wanted to be a physicist, but flunked out of college. I went to tech school to learn machining, and applied at the University of Wisconsin Physics dept. for a summer job. they sent me to the nuke engineering dept. and I have been working there ever since. I still marvel, and thank the gods, for my good fortune. I am heavily involved with a place called Folklore Village (I highly recomend it to anyone!). I started dancing there when I was fifteen. The woman who founded it mentored me in the art of leading dances, and I have been doing so since the early eighties. I have been running the performing group there for longer than I can remeber. I love to bake. It was an early introduction to art and chemistry. Plus, I learned at an early age, I didn't get scolded for eating half the cookies, if I baked them. I used to do more art before I became a machinist, but that has satisfied my compulsion to make things. I still dabble with jewelry, and I am learning how to blacksmith. I tie-dye alot of tee shirts. I get to do a great deal of designing and costruction of scientific instruments for my job. I helped design and procure the vacuum vessel, and parts of the coil set for the Pegasus Toroidal Experiment (http://pegasus.ep.wisc.edu/ if you want details of the experiment, we do magnetic fusion research) I have designed, or helped design various cameras, and other detectors. I am presently working on high current electron sources based on "washer gun plasma sources"
